FinePix HS20EXR
My New Camera. Last blog for a while.
This will be my last blog for a while as I return to work on Monday after a lengthy 5 month lay off. It coincides with the fact that I have just purchased a new camera, the HS20EXR. My last one was athe S1730. That will now travel in my car so I will never be without a camera with me.
This blog is purely a snap shot of photos I've been taking whilst I try to get used to handling this beauty. There is no theme just photos shot whilst I've been out and about. Hope you find something you like.

That's the camera assembled, whilst lounging in bed and my first and ever willing subject, Flake.

Sadly the weather is not as great as it might have been but this is my first outdoor shot.

This shot was taken just 4 days ago. Whilst you guys south of the border have probably picked your hedgerow fruit, made and sampled your jam, we still have a while to go. Hohum.
Good job I made loads last year. (Another talent, LOL)

I can honestly say, this is a shot I would not have taken with my 1730, don't ask why but I think I feel more confident, for some strange reason. Check out the wee bird, didn't see it until uploaded. (Must be more observant)

This wee fellow is always on his own but appears happy enough.

He looked up at me, probably thinking, not 'er with the camera again. I cropped this from full face view.
I think I'll head for the beach and leave him in peace.

This pic tells it's own story. High tide and very blustery. Once again I have forgotten the skyline. Sorry

Wanted to show the water splash, hope it shows up well enough.

Close up of rough sea. It seems so long since I have been down to the beach and the sea has been calm and the sun has shone. Like the rest of the country I guess.

Doesn't look so bad viewed across the beach. I really count having the beach on my doorstep, as a real blessing (Not literally or I get wet when the tides in). :)

When I took this I instantly thought of this months comp. I don't think so though.

It's now day 2 and I've trundled off to the River Dee as I know there will be subjects to shot. I was 'armed' with half a loaf of bread, just to bring them in closer.

I have had an interest in nature/wildlife since I was a child, a loooong time ago :) so wildlife photography is really what trips my trigger.

Took two shots of this pair, this one in potrait setting.

I love this pic.

This is a zoomed in shot, not tried macro yet.

SORRY VISITORS ARRIVED, WILL FINISH LATER.
Sorry Peeps, that must be the longest UC in the history of Construction. lol

These cuties were nestling in the river bank and allowed me to get quite close, just not this close, it is cropped, but not alot.

Near neighbours in this 'low-rise' vegitation.

And a youngster, maybe fallen out with mum or dad, or just doing his 'thing'.

It's in here somewhere!

A little floral reflief, sorry don't know what it is. CCBW has let me down this time. Or I've just not seen it.

This is the wee sandbank by the bothy where these locals come to be feed by the other locals.

This is the bothy nestling about half way between the two bridges on this stretch of the river. That's the Brig'O Dee in the distance. Last shot of yesterday.

Well that's what I thought till I took Flake out for her tea-time walk and saw this bird flying around.

Sorry about the 'tram-lines' but it was the best shot I could get as it was flying away from my direction.

Not great quality I know but this mornings walk with Flake was in the hope of seeing Big-Bird again and this is the closest I have managed. Moments after this he took off into the trees behind.

Flake and I continued on our walk, me thinking that I'd seen the last of BB for this walk. However, coming back up through the woods I kept an eye out - just incase. When I spotted him I thought, there is no way I'm going to get close to it, not with Flake mooching about. But a quick prayer was said and answered. If you could have seen the smile on my face. :)

And then as if to say, ok lady, that's close enough, he flew off to a 'safe' distance. I flet truly blessed.
Well that's it folks, not sure when I'll be back, but I will be back. I've still to find something for the comp.
I will be looking in and viewing even though I won't be post. Till later, take care. Jean

Isn't getting a new camera fun? My favourite shots in this set are the ones of the ducks in the marsh grasses. Good luck with settling back into the routine of work--and with the new camera.

Great blog. Flake is a cutie. we had a Westie when I was a kid. Getting used to a new camera is not the easiest of tasks but I would say you're getting the measure of it. Well done!
Please take a second to let me know what you think about my competiton entry

Hi Jean. How lucky are you HX29EXR. You should have some fun with that. I think you have more than one big bird. The first two shots look like a Red Kite to me, the last ones look like a Buzzard but I'm sure one of the others could tell you for sure. Thanks for making this blog and sharing it with us.I have enjoyed it and look forward to the next one. All the best back at work.

Brilliant, love your snapshots, makes for interesting viewing, camera looks as if its taking you places you wouldn't normally go, ie; ground shot of horse and wagtail. Will look out for more progress with camera, looking good so far. I want one.....((

Well done Jean, gald to see you're getting more confident with taking pics, and you're getting some good results as well.
Before you click away, have a good look around the viewfinder and check your levels and composition ie is there something in the picture that doesn't belong or not properly aligned etc. Saves loads of effort processing afterwards.
well done and thanks for all your kind comments on my blogs. enjoy work

Hi Jean, another lovely blog, The one I found very interesting is the first one. Flake, what a lovely name and such a sweetheart. If ever I got another dog, thats want I want.
A lovely set of photos, I love the Mallard ones, always interested in them especially as a female Mallard laid 14 chicks behind trees by my daughters Koi Carp pond last yr. They all but one survived and flew away.
Thank you for showing photos with your new camera. I am still trying to get to grips with my new one, an HS10 would blow my mind. Best of luck with it, I know they take amazing photos. Best of luck also going back to work. I have been retired 11 yrs, could not cope now. Best wishes, Pam.

Great blogg Jean - I love the two ducks in the long grass amongst the buttercups (brilliant) and yes you are right, we are eating are home made blackberry jam at this moment. You will be happier in the knowledge that ours will be finished before yours! The little boy and myself picked 2 lbs of blackberries before he got bored lol. You are also in a lovely part of the world - a great place to have a HS20. I too can only dream of one of these at the moment - did you try the digital zoom on the buzzard? I was amazed at the quality of the digital zoom on the yachts with my S9600. Have fun - Martin.
