Muttart Conservatory, Edmonton, Alberta
My family went to the Muttart Conservatory on Jan 5, 2012.

This is one of the many poinsettia plants in the feature pyramid.

I loved the blue and white that was the theme of this pyramid.

This is the Snow Queen castle.

This reindeer is facing the castle, the sleigh filled with presents.

We found these really big Christmas balls hidden in many places.

Another shiny Christmas ball.

More beautiful poinsettias.

This is the last pix in the feature pyramid, a large pot of blue and white poinsettias.

Now we are in the Temperate Pyramid.

More flowers and beautiful plants. Unfortunately I don't know the names of all of these, in fact, very few.

This is called Narcissus 'Prince Bar'

This is a Southern Magnolia, North America

these goldfish swim happily in the temperate pyramid.

See the next picture for an explanation of this statue.

this is the plaque beside the statue above.

More flowers in the temperate pyramid.

I know I should know the name, is it Iris?

Now we enter the Arid Pyramid

there are three of these small tile carvings on the wall before entering the pyramid.

One of the plants in the arid pyramid

This is called the "Crown of Thorns"

Closer up look at the Crown of Thorns

This plant is "the Star of Bethelem"

this is called a "felt bush" because of it's soft leaves.

This is a "woolly rose"

How do you like this Cactus? This is the last of the arid pyramid.

And now we go into the tropical pyramid

I just loved this pyramid, so warm and so beautiful

I used the flash on these beautiful flowers.

I loved this little roof with plants growing on top and below.

Some of the flowers under the roof.

Beautiful hibiscus in tropical pyramid.

Other flowers under the roof

We loved this waterfall. I think this pyramid was my favorite.
Our family had been wanting to see the Christmas feature pyramid for a while, because I always heard that they had a large amount of poinsettias and it always sounded beautiful. So this year we finally made it.
The Muttart Conservatory is four pyramids in the city of Edmonton. It is made up of the Feature pyramid, that changes every season, the Temperate Pyramid, where the plants are permanent, but the flowers change with the season, the Arid Pyramid, which is a desert area, and the Tropical Pyramid, which is beautiful with all varieties of tropical plants.
I took picture in all of these pyramids and I will prepare to walk you through them in this blog. I hope you enjoy.

I was just having an idle browse through the site and came across this blog, and I'm glad I did, Elizabeth - a lovely collection of natural colour and shapes so beautifully presented in that place. Many thanks for showing us.
Best regards, Steve
