The Cheviots
Four of us decided to go for a walk in The Cheviots as it was my last day in Northumberland before I headed off to Yorkshire to meet my cousins for the first time in my life.

the Cheviots in the distance

slightly different angle looking towards the Cheviots

panorama view on the drive to the Cheviots

mum and babies wandering along the track at beginning of our walk

they took off when they saw us then stopped further up the track and watched us approach

3 old dears, Mags and me with our walking sticks. Leslie didn't need one as she is younger than us lol.

the farmhouse..I think it was his farm we were walking through.

a babbling brook

babbling brook a bit further along

the road ahead

taken just round the corner from the photo above

scenery along the way

there they go, striding ahead and leaving me behind

more of the views as we walk

the girls looking for the waterfall we were meant to be heading for, they decided that it was over a mile further on and as it was getting late
(took this on my phone camera so not that good.)

we turned around about here and headed back

almost back at the farm

spotted this pheasant..all the ones I had seen so far were when we were in the car and they would take off as soon as we stopped for me to take a photo.so captured my 1st pheasant.

then as we were driving home I managed to get this one through the windscreen. They are a novelty to me as we don't have them in Australia in the wild...I was amazed at how many we saw on the roads. Bit like we see Kangeroos on our roads.

then he decided to strut across the road as bold as you please as we sat in the car and waited for him

one last stop on the way home, Mags wanted to show me the only thatched pub in Northumberland at Etal. It is a source of pride for the north east apparently.

Thanks for your lovely messages. I've had a busy month or two travelling etc. Just posted my Flavour of Fuerteventura Photoblog and compiling my Portugal holiday we enjoyed last week. Flying to Gran Canaria soon too. Clocking up the air miles but there are so many places I would love to visit here in England too. Hope you are well. Alison

Well this is a beautiful part of England, and one that I have not yet visited, and you most certainly have motivated me to go with this great blog! Love the black faced sheep and of course the pheasant; we have them here in Quebec and I remember seeing quite a few of them as a child around Montreal, though now one has to go further out into the bush, an all too familiar story, I'm afraid! Glad you enjoyed my ecomuseum blog. You have some lovely stuff in your gallery, by the way. Catch you later, Regards.
