Tropical Butterfly House & Falconry Centre
Went to the Tropical Butterfly House & Falconry Centre at North Anston Near Sheffield.
http://www.butterflyhouse.co.uk
Took about 30 mins to drive there from Belper in Derbyshire and well worth a visit

We headed first for the Bird of prey enclosure. Here you will find hawks, eagles, owls and Vultures.

there is also a hands on approach at this centre were you are even allowed to hold the birds with the trainers present.

this guy was just gorgeous

another one who was a very good looking bird.
this shot is in my gallery.

one of the several owls which are there

close up of the owls face

next was the Giant tortoises.there was 3 of them altogether.

then came Meerkat Mansion..Looking up for the food from the visitors.

just keeping an eye out for trouble

psst..you keep an eye on that side and i will do this side

there are other animals there e.g.. skunks, chipmunks, chickens, farmyard animals

after watching a show we then went into the butterfly house itself.
very warm and humid in there

The butterflys are spectacular

as it was a busy weekend it was very hard to capture the butterflies at rest because of children running about..But did get some

as well as the butterflies you can also see the leaf carrying ants.and because of the Oylmpics some where carrying flags

Also in the butterfly house is a few tropical birds which fly around and yo are able to feed.

in the middle is a pond with Koi carp and terrapins

within the butterfly house is the nocturnal house and this house scorpion and snakes and other nocturnal animals

Back outside to watch the free flying bird show.
one the Vultures that flies around

running before he takes off

these 2 green winged macaws fly around the park several times for a race.

a baby owl who is just being trained to fly around the area

It was a great day out and a great place to take children.
Adults of all ages will also enjoy this place
