A rainy, windy day
So while some of the country are getting better weather we are having gales up North in Orkney. With the need to get out of the house and take some photos I bundled the Husband and two kids in the car and we set off in search of some waves! Had to take husband as he knows the "West Mainland" of Orkney better than me and knew better where to go.
En route I needed to stop off at a shop and get some more batteries as I thought there was little life left in the ones in camera. ALthough it was a freezing cold day my husband decided he wanted an ice cream so I had to get Robbie one too, only problem was he was getting a bit sleepy!
And there we go - sound asleep. Quick photo before I had to remove the ice cream. The only time I can get a photo of Robbie is when he is sleeping, runs and hides any other time he sees the camera come out.
Another stop enroute for husband to nip into a shop and get some bits and pieces to fix our boiler. So I decided to roll down the window and take a few snaps. This is someones back garden, unfortunately I couldn't get all the chaos in one pic!
This was taken from the car window at full zoom, it shows that the sea is a bit rough but I was too far away and couldn't get closer, plus it stared to rain so off we set again to find somewhere better.
And here's the first photo I took once I got down onto a beach after a few more from the car. Using my tripod that came yesterday, some glad I bought one.
I quite like the colour the sun is amking this one, and also the fact I managed to catch a poor gull attempting to get somewhere.
This is my husbands favourite one of the day.
I like this one as I managed to catch the wave just as it's coming back down again.
This one just shows anice big wave, getting rather cold now!
Robie decided he wanted to come down onto the beach too so Daddy's helping him to make sure he doesn't blow away!
The reason tis one is in here s because Robbie wanted to take a photo of "that strange thing" so helped me take it.
And home again being carefully watched by one of our field neighbours!
Well thank you for looking and reading, I hope I didn't bore you with photos of waves! All comments welcome, good or bad!
A wee confession - all the wave pics were taken using the cameras lansdcape setting, a bit naughty of me if I want to learn but next time I'll try a more manual mode!
