Hello Terry

Capturing birds in flight is not easy and in photoblogs that I have done on the subject, I have always suggested that gulls are a good subject to start on.  These are indeed very good shots in my opinion so,  well done you.

If you get the chance, take a peep at my gallery and you will see that I have had a go at Swallows!!!  That's what good practise with work like you have done,  achieves.  Nice work.

Thanks

Hi Terry,

I think you've done a pretty good job, and I know it's not easy from recent experience, I've got plenty of blurry ones to show from my attempts as I'm new to this too!  I've posted some of my bird shots on my blog, link below if you'd like to look.

Thanks for sharing,

Gill Smile

Hi Terry. On the first seagull shot, the wings are a little out of focus but the next three are not too bad. If you can set your shutter speed to 1/1500th or 1/2000th of a second. Let the camera do the rest. This should enable you to freeze the movement almost fully. Also, try panning with the bird if he is going from left to right or vice versa. I also try to keep the focus on the eye. Best of luck.

Jan.
