Dont blink this Halloween
Mercys has a great costume this year

Halloween (Samhain) is always a big thing in our home.
We go all out, decorating the hall and door, buying in sweets for weeks previously, making 'eyeballs' out of lychees and strawberry laces, carving pumpkins etc, and the girls always dress up.
This year Mercy told me WELL in advance of her ideas for dressing up, and I spent the following weeks putting together bits and pieces and using up a LOT of grey and stone paint..
We did a trial run of her outfit so I coud get a few shots, using one light with barn doors and with Mercy against the wall of the dining room..
A LOT of dodge, burn, smudge and clone..and overlaying layers for the composite later and the images of Mercy were done..
(They are also in my gallery but I have popped them in a blog as I am going to try to overhaul to gallery soon)
Later tonight I will get a few images of the older girls(who are getting a bit too old to go as all out as Mercys likes too) and add them to this blog..

Good stuff, I presume the teeth are some sort of digital trickery?

Thanks guys
Mercy is already climbing the walls with excitment..heh
Yes Steve the teeth were done by elongating the tooth itself using the clone tool on a soft brush on a duplicate layer thinning the size of the brush towards the tip.
Then using the dodge and burn tool I painted in the shadow and highlights for tooth texture and burnt in the gums and mouth insides.
Then using a medium harsh smudge brush I gently swooshed the teeth downwards again making the brush smaller for the very tip.. then again I used the burn tool to darken and shadow the edges giving a bit of depth..

Don't know what seems harder all the work to create the images or all the makeup. Brilliant photos. Wish my two girls (21 23) were as young as Mercy again. Every time I point a camera all I get is Daaaaad.
Looking forward to more.
Dave.
