I haven't had a good run with previous cameras near water, so when the XP30 came out and it was fairly affordable I jumped at it. The very first thing I did when I got it out of the box was read the manual and make sure I knew how to shut the latch securely so it would not leak. The last thing I wanted was another camera ruined from water exposure. I tested it in the shower and it worked great. Unfortunately, not the same when it went in the pool... 10 seconds underwater and bye bye brand new camera.
