I was just about to comment on this image in your gallery Angela and noticed you'd taken off your fish one. I love these boots which displays something special about the representation of Industry. Excellent choice to change. .."I more than just like this...I love it" and have made your boots a Favourite of mine. Love Alison x

After much deliberating and a chat with the better half (who has informed me that he is always right!!!) I have deleted my 'Fishing Industry' entry and reverted to my original choice, ie. hubby's industrial boots from when he was an Engineering Apprentice many moons ago..........hung up in the shed after many years of faithful service and now 'forgotten and unloved'. LOL.
As much as a liked the cormorant image, the more I looked at it the more I felt it inappropriate. After a few days mulling it over I think the boots and coiled spring fit the theme better and also black and white shouts 'Industrial' to me.
Anyway, thanks to all who took the time to view and comment on my previous entry and helped me make the decision.

LOL Alison. Glad you approve of the change. I feel better now as I have been mulling it over for days which I suppose sort of says that I wasn't content with my other entry. Anyway, I will have to acknowledge that hubby was right eventually! He suggested that I enter the boots shot as soon as the theme was announced.

Best of luck in the comp

I could have probably included a bit more of the boots, however, would still have chosen a tight crop as I wanted to focus primarily on the wear and tear gained throughout hubby's apprenticeship rather than just photograph a 'pair of boots'.
Unfortunately I can't retake even if I wanted to as the boots and shed are sadly no more!

Angela, in my honest opinion you made the right choice. This is awesome. Bang of the theme. The tones and contrast in this are superb. I love the detail and wear you have captured in the boots also. Well done.

I like it too, even if it is a wee bit 'arty' (notice without the 'farty')
its deservedly popular and I cant understand anyone not being able to see the boots, thats a puzzle. I gave it like number 10, that should get it on the scroller.
I would like to see the cormorant though just so I know what I missed, I like cormorants.
So long and thanks for all the fish

Great to see the wonderful response Angela on your Industrial boots. Something special about this representation of Industry. Hope Mr Finepix notices. Your boots will now walk on to the scroller for sure. I have left a message in the UK Chat for you and boosted your boots with a bump up in the forum thread. Looks like you made the right choice Angela. Nice one (boot)
Re-edit adding....I mentioned your boots in Pam's forum thread too. I was wondering if the boots are a Size 11 by any chance? Just curious

Yes I like the boots too. My daughter has a similar pair, but she wears hers every day! she has a 'lid' for them to stop spiders crawling in during the night! They are her kiss ass boots.
I love the crop, it is arty, but hey you are an arty kind of gal! The b&w is the obvious choice if you are going to display this in a posh London gallery, don't you think?
Good change.

Unlike KevB I could see the boots but I still enlarged the thumbnail. I would suggest everyone viewing your picture does this and then the detail will be come apparent. A super image. I love the cobwebs which reminds me I must get my duster out of hibernation!! Best wishes.

I like this one too Angela and would probably have gone for this one myself. I think that the shot is made by the tight framing.
A point brought up by Granny Mags, I think that to post comment on anybody's image without seeing it at it's largest size possible pays an injustice to the photographer. Great detail or overall effect can be missed or diminished.

Exactly what I was trying to say, at least, always enlarge before passing comment or offering advice (obviously there are images that you see as poor at best and have no relevant or useful comment to make). Nobody could comment on every image!
I thought it worth starting a forum thread in UK Chat.

Wow Angela, this is a stunning shot in my opinion, but it is right up my Strasse, being b/w & dark in nature, hope you strike a blow for black and whiters everywhere!! Cheers, Steve.

Hip hip hooray, Angela your boots have walked right on to the scroller...well done.
I am laughing my socks off at the irony as your brilliant boots image has just kicked off my fun Muttley crew dogs off the scroller. Mine was only on an hour. Ha ha. Well done Angela I am so genuinely pleased for you. Nice one

Well done Angela for making the scroller with this one. Certainly speaks industry and having it in B/W really is a fabulous idea. I loved your fish one though it made me smile. I thought it was a great one for the theme as well.
Just brilliant and well done. Good Luck. Pam

Now that's a good idea Angela, I could have just taken a shot of my site boots, you never think of those things under your nose do you, instead I went with the fishing industry you scrapped.
Great image, like the use of B&W and details captured. Being a cropping fanatic think the crop makes it........vbol

Like it a lot. very atmospheric and aged. I lived in a coastal cottage built in the early 1800' and found a similar boot in the 'bread oven' by the side of the open hearth.Good Luck in the Competition.

Hi Angela! I think I find this image a bit flat. Having said that, I like the idea of the old working boot. I still use mine for digging the garden!
