There is an amazing amount of clear detail in this shot, Delia, a remarkable capture. Given how timid they usually are I'd love to know how you managed to take it. I really like it. (Thanks also for your comment on my herons, much appreciated).
Its a bit of an oldie 2010 I think it was in a walking blog and got commented on but when I posted in my gallery, nothing, but It's my favourite, I love the scales and the eyes. It was in the hedge bottom sun bathing, it being cool and they being cold blooded, and it looked as if it had just eaten and was very lethargic, so I got in good and close, I hoped I'd identified it correctly
