S3200

Hello to whom ever maybe reading this. I am looking to buy a new camera and am considering the S3200. My reasons, I love taking wildlife photos and find that the zoom on my S1730 does not give me the zoom capabilities that I would like. So if there is anyone with knowledge/experience of the S3200 I would appreciate some input. I don't want to always have to carry a tripod with me so realy need to know what this camera is like on hand held shots.

Thanks in advance of any advice.

I own the S3200 and really like it.  It certainly does not perform like my DSLR with a zoom lens(nor do I expect it to) but it does a really nice job, especially in good light conditions.  Most of the pics I have on my gallery are from the S3200.

This is a search of my shots with the S3200 on Flickr. ---- >

This was my review on Amazon.

This is an excellent bridge camera that takes sharp pictures with nice color. I have read some of the negative reviews and I am not sure how they came to those conclusions. Is it as good as my DSLR?... No. My DLSR cost me $900.00 more than this camera. Does it take great pics for being point and shoot superzoom?... YES. I have posted a number of pics that I took with this camera here on Amazon if you would like to review.(I think it shows up under the name Brian)

Pros:
Excellent range(24x)
Nice color
Sharp images ISO 400 and below
Excellent HD Video
Feature rich
Great Battery Life

Cons:
Noisy and loss of detail at higher ISO settings(like ALL smaller sensor cameras)
Power on to "ready to shoot time" is very slow(just let it go into power save mode and don't turn it off when you are out for a day of shooting)

Just spent my 1st week with a new S3200. Fantastic camera. I disagree with the comments regarding zoom capabilities. Look at my gallery, particularly the wildlife shots, most taken at 50M +!

Brian - thanks for your previous help, wondered if you couuld help again? Just took a vid of my son's band playing, put camera on vid mode and zoomed in. Was standing rather near one of the large speakers, it was an outdoor event. Played back the vid through the tv, the vid is not that close, in that you can see the full height of the people, but not their faces clearly, also the sound is very distorted and jumpy. Is there a way to set it up for clear zoom and clear sound, or is the camera not good for vids? Should I have used a better SD card with larger memory so I could have used HD, only it said it would only give me a few minutes and I needed to vid for about 40 mins. Also I used rechargeable (newly charged) batteries, that came with the camera and they only lasted half way, that I missed out 1 of the songs due to changing batteries! Please help asap, as if it is a fault with the camera, I think it is still in time to send it back under the trial period........Jackie
