A Pentacon Praktica LTL. Don't know which images I have that were taken with it and don't have any of my old film images scanned.

For me, a Contaflex - here's a shot from the early sixties, with the colour corrected to as near the original as possible, complete with dust specks! I could have taken out the dust with ICE, but that would be cheating, if you want to know how inferior things were in those days!

My first SLR was a Russian Zenit (40 years ago !) I do remember the mirror used to make a noise like a barn door slamming. Those were the days.....Andy.

My first SLR was a Nikkormat Ftn....I have been with Nikon since for my SLR kits and though the Nikkormat has long gone I still have a full Nikon film SLR kit with lenses - many of which I still use with the DSLR's.

My first SLR was a Pentax 110 Auto - the tiny, palm sized camera, back in the 80's sometime. Don't have any pics left unfortunately, but I do still have the camera.

I have a photographic memory. Unfortunately I forgot to remove the lens cap!

Mine was the Fuji ST605N, the predecessor of the STX-1, I think. Very similar, but used the Pentax M42 screw lens mount.
Ambleside, sometime around 1982.

Mine was a Vivitar X1 or VX1 - something like that. Bought in Singapore 1980 and took Pentax k-mount lenses.
I would still have it but my father-in-law wanted to trade in something when he bought one of the first digital cameras in 1998 so he gave me his Canon A1 and traded in the Vivitar as the trade-in price would be the same.
the digital camera was a Konica Q-M100 - 1mb and a 5xdigital zoom - £399 !!

Back in 1971 I worked for a while in a national photo dealership (No Names) and we were allowed to borrow the trade-ins for the weekend.
I once gat my hands on a Miranda Sensorex and had a mishap which still gives my wife hysterics.
We had just driven through a picturesque ford and I decide a photo was required. Now I wanted the shot from the other side of the ford so I crossed the river on the stepping stones alongside the ford.
Having taken the photo I set off back across the stones, only to slip half way across and fall in on the dowstream side where it was about 2 feet deep.
As I vanished into the water I was concious of the fact that if I destroyed the Miranda I would have to buy it and so held it aloft in my right hand so that all my wife could see was a wrist, a hand, and a dry Miranda sticking out of the water.
This has ever since been referred to as my "Lady of the Lake" moment.
My first SLR was the (Dixons)Prinzflex Super TTL with 50mm,f1.4 lens. Similar spec to a Pentax Spotmatic but only half the price.
I had 3 Prinz models over the year followed by 4 Pentaxes, but my favourite camera of all was the old Rolleiflex 3.5G Twin Lens Reflex.
Weighed a ton and every pic was accompanied by the whirr of brass gears but it didn't half take good photos.

My first SLR was a Praktica LTL3, with a 50mm f1.8 Zeiss lens. Loved it and got some decent shots, none of which I now have as it was a long time ago when god were a lad.
Got a gift of £100 from my dad after he had a little win on Notts county FC scratch card and decided to go semi-auto. Sold the Praktica and all it's gubbins and bought a Minolta X300.
My current Olympus E-620 is my first DSLR. Glad that I don't have to worry about film/processing/printing costs any more when I am out shooting.
Still have and use 3x 35mm cameras. A 1950s Agilux Agimatic and two 1980s Olympus', a Trip 35 and an XA2.

@Steve - I think it would be fair to say I have had brand loyalty, certainly with regard to my SLR's - they have always been Nikon; though I did also have a Miranda for a short while, but other than that they have ALL been Nikon.
I have a full Nikon film kit and a fairly comprehensive digital kit now ( I made the switch to digital about a year ago)
Some of the film kit -

My first SLR was an Olympus OM-1, given to me by my dad when I went to university. I was so impressed with the TTL metering, which was about the limit of technology in those days!
Taught me lessons about photography that I still use today. I took a break from photography for many years before starting with digital and discovering Fuji

GDR Praktica camera. M42 lens mount, no electronically gimmicks, no battery, nothing!
Indestructable. I sold it with some lenses for 50€ when the digital ages started and now i would like to have it back as a personal memory element...
