I really want to hear from anyone who wants to have their say on helpful tips that may help beginner photographers like myself on their way to taking better pics.  Whether it be how to take macro shots using a compact camera or even how to get the best angle for certain pictures we want to hear it!!!!

Howdy Folks,Been a long time since I've been on here, hope everyone still well and snapping.Still have my Finepix S5500, it still a great camera and has never let me down the 9 years I've had it, and to this day can still better pictures than some of the newer compact digital cams.

Just got a new Finepix S4200. I was trying to zoom in on a bird sitting in a tree outside, but the camera insisted on focusing on drops of rain on the window. But later, when I was thinking that a picture of rain on the window would be good, the camera insisted on focusing on the tree outside. Anyone got any tips on how I can get the camera to focus on a) the tree and b) the rain?

Hi All,Here in Christchurch around this time of night we have some great dusk skies...the sun has gone down part of the sky is clear and blue, the other part has interesting cloud patterns. Often the Moon is involved too. What are the best settings for capturing this? Not focussing on anything specific just getting the colours etc and potentially getting a good HDR shot? Thanks,

Help!   I have the HS30EXR and recently took some pictures for a friend.   Her daughter was going to her first school dance....and she wanted some pictures of her. Most of the pictures turned out really nice.....but on some, I got glare from her eyeglasses.    I heard I could buy a filter to help with this problem.    What kind of filter and will it actually help?

Hi, I have a Finepix HS20EXR which I am just learning the use.  I am having trouble when I take photos inside at night time, I went to my sons prizegiving inside a hall and tried to zoom in closer but it wouldn't focus for me.  I just had it on automatic setting.  It is fine if I don't zoom in to far.  Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hi everyone, this question must have been asked many times in the past but sadly my searching didn't bring up the right topic.I am fairly new to photography and only bought my HS20EXR last Christmas ( a present to myself!). I am an animal artist so obviously wish to take my own photographs in order to paint from and these are predominantly birds.

Im asked quite a lot why its so important to turn off the image stabilisation when using a tripod.  Well Ive a short video that explains it far better than I ever could in terminology. After all its far better to 'see' why than be told why.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/daz395/7936738122/in/photostream

Hi all, I'm assuming that some if not most of you have entered the Countryfile Photo Comp 2012: Walk on the Wildside. The photo comp has a top prize of £1000 worth of photographic equipment of your choice for first prize and £500 for the photo the judges thought was the best. For a bit of fun, If your photo was the winner in ether £500 or £1000 category. What would be on your wish list? :)

Hello all.Hope you can help! I've recently purchased the Finepix S4000 which I absolutely adore. However, I'm having a bit of difficulty with the quality of my pictures with certain lighting conditions. I'm sure there's probably a very easy answer, so apologies in advance if it's a silly question!

Hi everyone, as some of you have seen many of my photos have been taken outdoors using my new HS20 EXR and now with the addition of a Canon 1.5X telephoto converter just to get me that little bit closer. Now the bird hide, lets just say that I've made up my own 'large' hide but even though I know you will all laugh at my photo below it works!

Hi AllI was playing about with my new Pentax K-r today taking some shots of flying shitehawks. I was trying the continuous shooting mode, a bit like shooting clay pidgeons with a machine gun.I was using a 18-55mm lens (I wasn't expecting to be taking photos of birds) set at f/8, 1/640sec and ISO 200 and spot metering. It was a bit misty so didn't expect much. Didn't expect much anyway as I was just testing the feature. I also have a 55-200 kit lens.

Trying to improve the photo's in my garden using a small f number and getting close to the subject. Also using a little zoom to further blur out the background. One of the results is here; http://www.myfinepix.co.uk/gallery/169862/525243 Thank youDave Bloor

Ive been trying to create an atmospher in the photo I've just added to my gallery, using low lighting, a carefully arranged set and an everyday subject. Although I have a dslr, which Fred says I'm not allowed to mention again because It begins with the letter 'N' lol I still revert back to my old s8000fd for a lot of shots like the one I've just added to my gallery. Please have a peek and see if you get what I mean. http://www.myfinepix.co.uk/gallery/169862Thank youDave Bloor

Until now, I have not done any editing to my photos. I downloaded Picasa last night and had a lot of fun playing with my photos but can't figure out how to get my edited photos off of picasa and post them on here. Can anyone help me with that? I tried to import one to the members exibition gallery but it didn't work. Thanks,Deb

I'm going to Bournemouth Air Show next Saturday and this will be the first time I've ever been to one. I have the S2980 and was wondering if you can give me some tips and hints on what settings to use and how to photograph the planes? Only recently purchased it - used to a compact digital camera or my phone so any help would be greatly appreciated!
