Sad Announcement Relating to Jim Bamber from his Partner

14th March 2010

Following on from the sad news about Rhoda on 23rd February, I am writing to bring you more unexpected news. Although Jim Bamber only started contributing to Finepix in early 2009, he had been taking photographs since 1947 as a youngster. He really enjoyed the professionalism and camaraderie  present on the site. This refreshed his motivation and enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries in photography. Only the other day, he was discussing upgrading his camera with me, his partner, Barbara, and other plans for our future.

Unfortunately, on Wednesday, 10th March 2010, Jim died most unexpectedly of heart failure - something we never anticipated. We both thought we would share a good few more years together. Thank you to everyone who participates in Finepix for all their positive and constructive comments shared with Jim. He really enjoyed taking part and exchanging banter with everybody. Besides losing a partner, I have lost my best friend.  BARBARA

Barbara

I am so so sad to hear of the news.  Jim used to comment on my photos with intelligence and humour.  I for one will sadly miss him and I am sure many many other members will.

Our condolences go out to you and your family. We too have lost a  friend.

Dear Barbara, I am so sorry to hear about Jim.  He very often commented on my entries with kindness and enthusiasm.  He will be missed by all that knew him here.  My sincere, heartfelt condolence.  I wish you well and hope, that in time, you will be able to smile again.  Such sad news. His blogs from your holidays in North Wales were legendary, I loved reading them.

I will miss him so much - he really enjoyed 'having some fun' - he was a real asset to the site and a true gentle man. Every sympathy to you and his family and friends. I think from the little I knew of him he was a much loved man, please pass on to them how much he was appreciated and loved here.

Thank you, Dave and Steve, for your kind comments about Jim. I am attaching a photo of Jim and myself reflecting fond memories of our happy times together.

click on http://www.myfinepix.com/gallery/680/79815

Jim was a very lively, young-at-heart 78 year old whose hobbies were computer programming & design layout - utilising this until a few years ago with a successful local Community Newsletter which was very popular. He had an eye and flair for this sort of thing. His other hobbies were - as you all know - photography and I thought personally, he was getting better and better all the time; classical music reading and overseas travel.

He had a lovely friendly personality and was well thought, besides being a gentlemen of the old school. He will be sadly missed by family and all who know him - especially stepchildren Graham & Colin and wives, grandchildren, Laura & Holly - who were featured in 'Jim's Gallery'  (see fountains photograph and Laura in photograph converted to a drawing).  Thank you again for your kind words, Barbara

Sad news Barbara and my deepest condlences to you and your family. You only have to look at Jim's gallery and blogs to see how popular he was on the Fuji site. He produced some brilliant photos and taught some of us a lot about photography.

Truly shocked.

Jim was one of the first people to ever comment and offer advice on this site about how to improve my pictures.  He did have a great knowledge of the art and I respected everything he said to me.

I am so sorry to hear of this loss to your family.  I hope that you will leave Jim's gallery intact here as a testament to a gentleman and a gifted photographer.

My sincere thoughts and wishes are with you all.

Guy.

I did not know Jim I am a new member but sounds as if he was well liked and a good person.

So sorry for your loss.  One step at a time.

Take care

So sorry to hear about Jim. I always looked forward to his comments on my walking blogs, as he'd often mention he'd trod the same paths many moons ago, and I know he was especially fond of dipping his toes in stickle tarn in the Langdales!!

he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

Take care,

Ian

My condolences to you and your family.  Though I only know Jim through the Fuji site he was always a gentleman and positive enthusiast.  His passing is a sad loss and the site will be the poorer for not having Jim around.
