Fungi and Mushroom Thread
Hi All,
We have bird and insect thread so I thought as Autumn is on the way and I now have some in the garden we should have a fungi and mushroom thread.
Same as the other threads please post as close as possible to having taken the shot and no old gallery entries.
If you can identify the species then so much the better but not compulsory, as I know how difficult it can be, even using books.
I should also add that if anything is identified as edible DO NOT eat anything similar looking unless you are 100% certain it is the same edible species.
Many mushrooms will kill you if eaten and some edible and non-edible species can look very similar and even experts can get it wrong.
I don't want anything like that to happen because of this thread.
Personally I find fungi interesting and fascinating(including those that cause plant diseases but that's a different thing) so hopefully there will be some interesting shots from others.
Here are some from the garden this week -

Why not Mike. I will be keeping my eye out now for an entry. I maybe not be able to name them as yet, but I do know there are some very colourful ones, strange shapes, interesting places where they are found. Here's to you Mike for a successful thread.
Cheers
Steve

Funny that this thread should pop up now. I've just come back from a quick 3 mile walk where I saw this. Don't know the variety offhand, but I think I wouldn't eat it under any circumstances....
EDIT: Fly Agaric apparently. Can cause hallucinations, violent stomach upsets, uncontrollable muscle spasms and death. Sounds a bit like the works canteen coffee.
Only four more years before I retire...

Not a clue what this is, saw it in a dead tree trunk this afternoon.
My views are mine alone and do not represent the views of others, either implied, alive, dead, budding apparitions or know it alls. Anything I state, that doesnt go along with everyone else or THE RULES are stated to give another avenue to explore

When dragons are in short supply their is always something to shoot....some wax caps, a boletus of some sort and a slug on a large one!!!!! Sorry, knowledge on these not as good as dragons!
They will come into their own over the next six weeks. Found a few good sites last year with Amethyst Deceiver and plenty of Fly Agarics. Will make a return soon.

Hoggie - that's the problem with fungi - unless growing on atree they tend to be at ground level ! Not always easy to get a good shot without getting down there.

Again, don't know the name.
Remember. You can eat all mushrooms, but some you can only eat once.

Again, no idea what they are but I have always known these flat types that grow out from trees as 'plate fungus' but I think that is just a generic term and not the variety;
