I remember seeing one soaring in the mountains, close to the north coast of Scotland, 40 years ago. A very impressive creature, its outstretched wings seemed to be the size of a door, but I've never had such a close look, so it's much appreciated.

P.S. @ Muddy Paws, actually the national bird of the USA is the bald eagle but it really doesn't make much difference because all eagles are such amazing birds.
