I HAVE HAD THE CAMERA A FEW MONTHS FOUND FOCUSING A LITTLE SLOW WHEN TAKING PICTURES OF MOVING OBJECTS,, SUBJECT HAS GONE BEFORE GETTING A GOOD IMAGE IE BIRDS EXT

I purchased this camera second hand and I can honestly say it is an excellent camera. After spending time getting to know the features and settings available I am now able to take some vivid pictures that I was unable to take with my previous cameras. The settings and features available are similar to DSLR cameras which is brilliant. One of the previous reviews has touched on the auto-focus issue whilst video recording but this can be remedied by selecting "Auto" not "EXR" before recording.
Excellent picture quality for a Bridge Camera.
The option to save pictures as RAW files.
Full HD Video Recording.
Can be a tad confusing for beginners.
Full HD Video playback sometimes judders on some laptops and low end PC's.
I wanted a bridge camera which was within my budget and had a viewfinder as well as a screen. (A viewfinder is so useful when trying to take photographs in very bright conditions.) This model was perfect.
Having got used to the Fujifilm AV200, many of the settings are similar. Also, the flash unit doesn't go off unless it's manually activated. (A problem I sometimes had with the AV200.)
As an amateur photographer, who used to have an SLR when 35mm film was in vogue, I would recommend this camera
The viewfinder, ease of use, picture quality and the cost.
Not enough "Parts of the Camera" diagrams in the Basic Manual. You have to load up the CD Rom to get further information.
I've had the hs30exr for a few months now. I have found it quite good at most things.
Some of the functions seam a bit gimicky but I don't have to use them. the manual focusis a little fiddley. I really like the maual zoom. The inability to photograph moving objects (as the image freezes in the viewfinder ) is pretty poor.
the super macro is just about useless. you have to be so close to the subject that you have scared it off long before taking the picture. The macro setting is more usable.
Large zoom, good battery life, flip out screen, viewfinder auto switching,
useless for moving subject
super macro very disappointing
This is my second review of the X-S1 as I am now more used to the camera and it's wide variety of functions.
My first review can be found here;
I felt that a further review was required after overcoming some of the issues that other owners were having with such things as focus at full zoom and capturing moving objects, such as flying birds.
All the following pictures are from the X-S1, most at full or nearly full zoom and all are moving s
What AREN'T the pros?
Still hate the strap! Hehe.
Fred, feel free to send me a nice soft one.
Initial thoughts. I purchased my X10 only a week ago and thought that I would share my first impressions. I was looking for a more pocketable camera than all my previous film slr's and my Finepix S9500 but without suffering much in image quality. And Boy, this little gem sure fits the bill. Iniatially I was going to buy the X100 but had such a hassle buying one sight unseen and unhandled from a Hong Kong internet store I decided to buy from local retail and handled the X100 (very impressive) but
Price point. Its a bargain.
Good lens and sensor.
Ease of use for a semi pro camera.
Sub cammand dial fiddly.
Easy to lose lenscap as no attaching string provided
This is my forth FujiFilm camera, and for general photography when looking for value I have never been disappointed. This is the third camera I have bought for work, having damaged the screen on the last one I bought around 5 years ago. Though I really wanted to get a new home camera to replace my S7000, and prefer a viewfinder, I knew it wouldn't take the abuse of using it at work. I bought an AX500 because of size and cost
Small, inexpensive, and like its predecessors, likely will last around 6 years.
Like all my other FujiFim cameras, it uses AA batteries which never leave you stranded. I hope Fuji reconsiders not supporting AA batteries on its higher end non-SLR cameras
Don't like the new USB connector on the camera which isn't standard. Opting for the mini on most sphones would have been a better choice.
It would be nice even if it cost more to a have a smaller LCD, and and view finder
I have had this model now for almost two weeks and have put it through its paces. I particularly wanted a camera with a decent zoom to photograph wildlife but without having to drag a bag of lenses around. This camera has met my requirements in spadeloads. Although having many extra modes (and I have played with some) I will probably only use a few of them regularly. I am a great believer that if you are given these extras you should try to use them. It feels good in the hand and responds admira
Good feel, responsive, quality build and good results
Believe it or not the only thing that I can criticise is the Battery and card covers feeling a bit fragile
After owning this HS50 EXR 4 days I yet to become familiar with this camera however there is one thing that stands out.
In spite of the huge amount of features this camera is not overwhelming it is a straightforward and relatively simple camera to use I chose it to fulfil a particular purpose and already it has excelled.
Yes there is a lot to get used to if you want to use all the extras, but it does not stop you using it by forcing you to continually refer to the hand book. Simply put it is a su
for simple photography it is easy to use, it allows you to go beyond simple photography and create some fantastic immages
it challenges your creativity and ingenuity to get the best out of it
Superb build & image quality- this camera has a really classy feel and is now excellent value for money.
There are some 'quirks' with this camera, but nothing that would make me think twice about purchasing this camera again!
Great build quality
Great image quality
Superb selection of 'creative' modes
A great handling camera
No shooting info thru viewfinder
No articulated screen
RAW button no longer used for RAW!
Some processor issues
